GRID REF 002: When I Grow Up......

Have you noticed how children are always dreaming and talking of what they will do when they grow up. Who they will be, what they will own and the fun that they will have. When we are young, adulthood is seen as a glorious future of freedom, adventure and a time when anything is possible. So what happened? Is it that this youthful hope was just a lie or perhaps merely youthful naivety? Where did that hope of freedom and the expectation of adventure go?

It was stolen. But we can get it back.

The world and the enemy have colluded to convince us that risk must be avoided at all costs. Whether that be the risk of pursuing a new career, or a beautiful women or running a marathon for the first time. But God calls us into risk and adventure. Just like He called Abraham to travel thousands of miles as an old man, or when He called Moses to set His people free or when He called Joshua to take back the promised-land.

Risk is really a matter of the heart. It is God’s way of asking whether we will trust Him. And when we accept His invitation we grow as men and we learn to trust Him. For risk and adventure are His training plan for us.
